Mum's the Word
Consider moving to a remote island and spending 9 months thinking about all the things you will need when you get there and dreading the long flight. Do absolutely no thinking about what you new daily life will be like there and how you and your partner will have to adjust to living in a new place where you don't know the language or understand the culture or rules.
This is how many women approach motherhood. Lots of time thinking about pregnancy, plenty of worry about labour and possibly a bit about baby care? Have you had a chance yet to think about how becoming a mum will change you?
This course offers the opportunity to meet other woman having babies at the same time as you and looks in detail at the issues facing first time mums.
Overview of Course Contents
- What the immediate post-birth experience can be like physically, emotionally and practically.
- The ups and downs of breastfeeding; what to do if it isn't working as well as how feeding and comforting your baby will affect you (and what you can do to cope).
- How becoming a parent changes women and men and how this then changes their day to day lives.
- How your own parental roles and the type of child you have with influence your experience of parenthood.
- "Bringing up Baby": a chance to review the different baby minding fashions, link them to the current popular books and discuss what is right for you.
- How having a baby will change your relationship with the baby's father, your mother, his mother, your friends etc.

Who should attend?
Any woman who is expecting her first child and would like to have a chance to have a chance to learn and talk about how her body, relationships and routine will change once the baby is born.
Cost, Duration and Location
5 Session in total, 4 prior to birth & 1 after, each generally lasting 2 hours.
£70 including workbook, refreshments and group photo.
Classes are located in Amersham/ Chesham Bois.
Evenings or Weekend Classes depending on demand.
It is possible to attend the first session before commiting to the entire course. Owing to course set up costs this will be £15 for the session.
Prices are negotiable depending on circumstances.
