Preparing Parenting

The purpose of "Preparing for Parenting" is to give a chance for couples to discuss their hopes and fears regarding the post birth period and to provide proven tools to survive the first few months.

Quite often the mum-to-be has done a lot of reading on pregnancy and birth; this class gives the opportunity to bring her partner "up to speed" on the areas where he will/could be involved.

It also gives an opportunity to address any underlying concerns in a safe environment. is course is flexible to the needs of the individual couple. A long list of possible topics is available to choose from and couples are encouraged to add items of particular interest to them.

Who should attend?

Any couple who are feeling apprehensive about what to expect from early parenthood or who wish a realistic portrait of what it can be like. Often expectant parents are told "just wait... you'll find out soon enough" as if it is impossible to prepare yourself for what is coming.

In the same way no guide book can ever prepare you fully for a trip to in Outer Mongolia, no course can describe how early parenthood will be for you. That does not mean there is no value in the guide book.

What people have said about it

"Dear Helen, I just wanted to say a big thank you for the other night. We both found it extremely useful. It has given us lots to think about and discuss in preparation for all the change. I think that it has really done us good. You obviously worked really hard on the agenda and it is great to have that to refer to. I sang your praises at our coffee morning today! "
